Last week, the discovery of a 'Higgs-like' particle brought us one step closer to figuring out how the universe came into existence. However, there is one larger mystery that still remains to be figured out, one which may not be solved by scientific reasoning alone — and that is "why" the universe came into existence.
In his latest book, “Why Does The World Exist,” author Jim Holt embarks on an existential journey, asking everyone from mathematicians to novelists, “why is there something rather than nothing?”
