Nhan Dan – A ceremony was held in Hanoi on July 18 to honour students who achieved outstanding results at the 53rd International Mathematics Olympiad in Argentina.
The Ministry of Education and Training presented a certificate of merit and VND25 million for winnng a gold medal to 12th grader Dau Hai Dang from the High School for Gifted students under the Hanoi National University of Education.
Silver medal winners Nguyen Hung Tam, Nguyen Phuong Minh and Nguyen Ta Duy, all 12th graders from Hanoi, received VND17 million each, while bronze medalists 12th grader Le Quang Lam from Thanh Hoa and 11th grader Tran Hoang Bao Linh from Ho Chi Minh City were each awarded VND12 million.
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien said he hopes the winners will gain even greater achievements in the future, especially in the fields of science and technology, and promote their talents to serve the country.
Vietnam ranked 9th at this year’s International Mathematics Olympiad, which drew the participation of 548 contestants from 100 countries and territories around the world.
