Imafidon Twins, youngest mathematicians participates in Olympic Torch relay 24-07-2012

World record breaking mathematicians, Twins, Peter and Paula Imafidon, have participated in the final leg of the London 2012 Olympic Torch relay route to the Olympic Stadium in their hometown of London

Online PR News – 22-July-2012 –Peter and Paula Imafidon, the Wonder Twins who are the youngest kids ever to pass High School Mathematics at the age of 6 and pass University of Cambridge Advanced Math exam at 8, received the Olympic Torch of the London 2012 Games as it passed through the streets of Stratford en-route to the Olympic Stadium. On the 63rd day of the Olympic Torch Relay, the Olympic Torch travelled through the heart of Stratford. Peter and Paula were keen to make the most of the unique opportunity also experienced by many celebrities including singer Will.i.am and Doctor Who Actor Matt Smith. The twins are members of the Imafidon family which is renown as world's smartest family by leading media including the BBC. In the previous weeks, they were unable to contain their excitement after they got confirmation of the news, that they will be holding the torch, which was first confirmed by the ExcellenceinEducation.org.uk's website. ‘It was so cool holding the Olympic Torch! It looks heavy, but actually it's quite light - but then it has to be if there are a lot of people who are going to carry it’ Paula said, and Peter enjoyed the experience too saying ‘I'm really happy I did it, its the best thing I've ever done and now I've become a part of Olympic history.’ In addition to their academic accolades their extra-curricular achievements are also worthy of note.

Their sporting achievements including 100m, 200m, 400m, 4 x 100m Relay and victory in 200m London International Boat Race 2009. The twins follow a family tradition of intellectual and sporting over-achievement. Anne-Marie Imafidon their eldest sister is on record as the youngest Masters degree graduate of the University of Oxford, she played Netball for her College despite of her age. Their other sister, Christiana Imafidon is the youngest student ever to study at undergraduate level at the age of 11 and played for the under 16 West Ham football club and also played District and County level Hockey for 5 consecutive years. Samantha Imafidon their immediate senior sister is the youngest student ever admitted to a high school in Britain, and is county champion in 100 metres, and girls relay beating athletes who are over two years older. She passed her University of Cambridge Advanced Math at 9 and mentors the current world record mathematician.

All staff, students and management of the Excellence in Education were encouraged to participate in the event as the London venue of the program was used by visiting Olympic teams.
