Why I Invented Machine That Could Stop Double-voting, Others •Says 24-yr-old Graduate Of Multi-media Mathematics And Computer Science

Going by the global trend technological development, it has become expedient for Nigerian government to establish a technology development centre, a department  that will  search for talented young boys and girls in science and technology in the society and groom them for the country’s technology development strategies.  In other words, the development of a think-tank centre  for youths will encourage them to contribute their quota towards the development of this country, as it will go a long way to disengage them from negative innovations.
Recently, Rising Stars came across a young man, Marvel Igbinake, who has committed his time and energy to develop a model electoral machine  that can serve Nigeria in our election processes.  In this interview with Rising Stars,  Igbinake shares his vision for this country on technology development. Excerpts:
Tell us about yourself?
I attended     Saint John’s Primary School Akure, in  Ondo State. From there, I proceeded to African Church Comprehensive High School, Alagbaka,  Akure, for my secondary school education. Now,  I am a graduate of Multimedia Mathematics and Computer Science. I did my course at  Dave Emmanuel Multimedia Centre, Alakuko, Lagos/Kaplan University, Texas, United States (on-line programme). I am 24 years old.
What is your opinion about Technology Development?
Fast growing. And if we need to go past our developing stage we need technology development. without which, we can not  even keep ourselves alive. This can be justified in the way in which the Medical practitioners clamour for technological development in ensuring standard medical services. With this strong need of technology development, most countries still do not mull over it.
How do you rate Nigeria in the area of Technology?
Well, I will say we are trying. But, I must say that Nigeria needs to be educated in the aspect of technology. Looking generally at the world today, Nigeria is totally not advancing in the aspect of technology. Come to think of it,  we have satellites, yet, we are still attacked by terrorists. There is no surveillance that can detect and even trace these terrorists to their hide-outs. Nigeria as a nation should have access to a big part of the technology research in the world. We should encourage technological discoveries because that is what we need in Nigeria.
Tell us about your invention, how you came about the model, and what benefits it will serve Nigeria?
I call the machine ‘ELECTORAL MACHINE PRO. S. (EMPS) or (NIGERIAN TECH’.   It is a machine that can be used for Election without stress. A free and fair electoral machine. This machine can also serve census purpose.  It will encourage free and fair system because there will be no double registration or voting as it  automatically rejects the DNA of the person that wants to double-vote. Immediately a vote is being cast at a polling unit it is being recorded at the Head office. With such, even if the machine is being destroyed the vote is not lost. There cannot be stealing of ballot paper, because the machine is operated with just a card and your thumb print.
Moreover, this Machine can not be hacked or tracked,  because it does not interact through the web, radio wave, or a satellite but, rather through an Electronic I.C. I called Mobile Interactive Sensor (M.I.S.). Whatever  you are doing on any of the said machine, is also being registered on other  machine. This is  because the M.I.S. is produced through a CLONE Technology and placed on board with each machine. With this machine, Nigeria is going to be a Legend in the World Political and Electoral landscape through technology.

Moreover, you can check the voting result of Akure in Lagos  if you wish to. You can check the result anywhere you want without even waiting for the head machine at Abuja.
What are the various functions of this machine?
The machine has a speaker which announces the winner after the election at every polling Centre and also sends the result immediately to the Head Machine at Abuja for general announcement. And the Voice code shall be that of the  INEC Chairman, according to our programming.
This machine can also serve as a Database and Means of Security to the country; because it has a camera which can serve as surveillance during and after election. The machine shall be a fixed machine just like the ATM Machine. The machine can also serve as a means of announcement before, during, and after election period. As you can see on the machine bottom screen  you will see news SCROLLING. There are lots of  functions that  this machine can be used for. For instance, the machine contains a touch screen keyboard designed  to enter your data during registration exercise,  and it also changes to the political parties on board during election period which makes it easy for voters to choose any party they wish to vote for from the machine. The Machine has other voting process and functions  which I may not be able to unveil now because it is highly confidential.
How did you come about this model?
I came about this in a divine manner. I call it divine because it was God that gave it to me. During the past elections there were lots of mischievous acts in the country and it really grieved me. This ignited my  thought on  how we could solve this problem technically. Then, I sat and arrived at this machine.
What assistance do you want from the  government and the people?
I want the government to take this machine into consideration, as it will change the face of the country’s electoral process, thereby eliminating the after election crisis. I want  the machine to  be  manufactured in a large quantity and installed at every polling centre in the Federation. I have designed the machine to be affordable. I also want the people to welcome this new technology because it is our new creation.
What are other functions of the machine?
When you take a close look at the Machine, you will see that it is very simple to use.
It has nodes that will be used to screw it to the wall.
It has an in-built printer that prints out your voter’s card during registration. And also a camera that takes your passport.
It has a voting machine, where you slot your voter card to vote during voting exercise. Every detail can be viewed in the VIEW BOX.
