Pengumuman Ujian Nasional

Pengumuman Ujian Nasional yang sekaligus Pengumuman Kelulusan Kelas IX akan dilaksanakan pada hari Sabtu, 2 Juni 2012. Rasa berdebar sudah pasti ada. Untuk mengingat bagaimana Kriteria Kelulusan ditentukan, berikut gambarannya :
Peserta didik dinyatakan lulus dari satuan pendidikan setelah :
a. menyelesaikan seluruh program pembelajaran;
b. memperoleh nilai minimal baik pada penilaian akhir untuk seluruh mata pelajaran yang terdiri atas :
(1) kelompok mata pelajaran agama dan akhlak mulia,
(2) kelompok mata pelajaran kewarganegaraan dan kepribadian,
(3) kelompok mata pelajaran estetika, dan kelompok mata pelajaran jasmani, olah raga, dan kesehatan ;
c. lulus ujian sekolah/madrasah untuk kelompok mata pelajaran ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi; dan
d. lulus Ujian Nasional

Kriteria Pertama penyelesaian seluruh program pembelajaran oleh peserta didik adalah proses pembelajaran:
• SD/MI dan SDLB: kelas I sampai kelas VI
• SMP/MTs dan SMPLB: kelas VII sampai kelas IX
• SMA/MA , SMALB, SMK : kelas X sampai kelas XII

Kriteria Kedua adalah nilai baik untuk empat kelompok mata pelajaran agama akhlak mulia, kewarganegaraan, kepribadian, estetika, jasmani, olah raga dan kesehatan ditetapkan oleh satuan pendidikan masing-masing
 
Kriteria Ketiga peserta didik lulus Ujian Sekolah/ Madrasah (US/M) yang ditetapkan oleh satuan pendidikan masing-masing, dengan ketentuan :

NS = 0,6 x NUS + 0,4 NR

Keterangan:
NS : Nilai Sekolah/Madrasah
NUS : Nilai Ujian Sekolah/Madrasah
NR : Rata-rata Nilai Rapor dengan rincian sebagai berikut:
.. SD/MI dan SDLB : semester 7 sampai 11
.. SMP/MTs, SMPLB : semester 1 sampai 5
.. SMA/MA, SMALB : semester 3 sampai 5
.. SMK : semester 1 sampai 5

 Kriteria Keempat peserta didik lulus dari Ujian Nasional :
.. SD/MI dan SDLB ditetapkan oleh satuan pendidikan melalui rapat dewan guru
.. SMP/MTs, SMPLB, SMA/MA, SMALB, dan SMK ditetapkan oleh BSNP berdasarkan perolehan Nilai Akhir (NA)

Nilai Akhir :

NA = 0,6 NUN + 0,4 NS

Peserta didik SMP/MTs, SMPLB, SMA/MA, SMALB, dan SMK dinyatakan lulus UN apabila peserta didik mencapai nilai rata-rata NA paling rendah 5,5 dan NA tiap mata pelajaran paling rendah 4,0.

ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തേക്കുള്ള ക്ലാസ് പ്രമോഷന്‍ സമ്പൂര്‍ണ വഴിയായിരിക്കണമെന്നു കാണിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഡിപി.ഐ സര്‍ക്കുലര്‍ കണ്ടിരിക്കുമല്ലോ. അതു പ്രകാരം കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ ക്രിയേറ്റു ചെയ്ത് 8,9,10 ക്ലാസുകളിലെ കുട്ടികളുടെ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ സമ്പൂര്‍ണയില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു. സമ്പൂര്‍ണ പോര്‍ട്ടല്‍ യൂസര്‍ നെയിമും പാസ്‌വേഡും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് തുറന്ന ശേഷം ഡാഷ് ബോര്‍ഡിലെ Class and Divisions മെനുവില്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുമ്പോള്‍ വരുന്ന പേജിലെ 8, 9, 10 ക്ലാസുകളില്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്താല്‍ അതിലെ ഡിവിഷനുകളും Division ല്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്താല്‍ അതിലെ കുട്ടികളേയും കാണാന്‍ കഴിയും. ചുവടെയുള്ള ചിത്രം നോക്കൂ. എട്ടാം ക്ലാസിലെ ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ A 2011-2012, B 2011-2012 എന്ന ക്രമത്തിലാണ് കാണാന്‍ കഴിയുക. അതു കഴിഞ്ഞ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തെ ഡിവിഷനുകളാണ്. അപ്പോള്‍ നാം ആദ്യം എന്തായിരിക്കും ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വരിക? 2012-2013 അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് പുതിയ ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ ക്രിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്യണം. എന്നാലേ 2011-2012 ലെ കുട്ടികളെ പുതിയ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് പ്രമോട്ട്/ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ ചെയ്യാനാകൂ. അതെങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യാം?

കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷത്തെ അത്രയും എണ്ണം ഡിവിഷനുകളേ ഈ വര്‍ഷവും ഉള്ളൂവെങ്കില്‍ ഈ പേജിന്റെ വലതു ഭാഗത്ത് import Divisions (മുകളില്‍ ചുവന്ന വളയത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്നു) ല്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷത്തെ അത്രയും എണ്ണം ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ പുതിയ വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് സൃഷ്ടിക്കാം. ചുവടെയുള്ള ചിത്രം നോക്കുക.
Select Start date: 2012 ജൂണ്‍ 1 ഉം Select End Date : 2013 മാര്‍ച്ച് 31 ഉം ആയിരിക്കും. കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷത്തേതിലും ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ കുറവാണെങ്കില്‍ ഉള്ള ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ മാത്രം ടിക് ചെയ്താല്‍ മതി. എട്ടാം ക്ലാസിന് ചെയ്തതു പോലെ 9, 10 ക്ലാസുകളിലും 2012-2013 വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് പുതിയ ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ സൃഷ്ടിക്കണം.

NB:- നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച ഡിവിഷനുകളുടെ എണ്ണം കൂടിപ്പോയെങ്കില്‍ അത് ഡിലീറ്റ് ചെയ്യാനും എഡിറ്റ് ചെയ്യാനും സാധിക്കും. ഒന്നാമത്തെ ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ക്ക് നേരെ Edit, Delete ബട്ടണുകള്‍ നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്നത് കാണാം.

കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം ഉള്ളതിലും ഡിവിഷനുകളുടെ എണ്ണം കൂടുതലാണെങ്കില്‍ import Divisions ന് ഇടതു വശത്തുള്ള New Divisions ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് പുതിയ ഡിവിഷന്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിക്കാവുന്നതേയുള്ളു.
ഇനി Class and Divisions മെനുവിലെ Class എടുത്തു നോക്കുക. 8,9,10 ക്ലാസുകളില്‍ ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ പുതിയ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തിന്റെ സഫിക്സോടെ ( ഉദാ : A 2012-2013, B 2012-2013..) വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോയെന്ന് പരിശോധിക്കണം.

പ്രമോഷന്‍ / ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍
പുതിയ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ടാല്‍ ഇനി കുട്ടികളെ പ്രമോട്ട്/ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ ചെയ്യാം. ജയിച്ച (EHS) കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് പുതിയ ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് അയക്കുന്നതിനെ പ്രമോഷന്‍ എന്നും NHS ആയ കുട്ടികളെ ഒരു ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് അയക്കുന്നതിനെ ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ എന്നും പറയുന്നു. NHS ആയ കുട്ടിയാണെങ്കില്‍ക്കൂടി കഴിഞ്ഞ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ നിന്നും 2012-2013 അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു ഡിവിഷനിലേക്ക് അവനെ ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ ചെയ്യണമെന്നത് മറക്കരുത്.

എന്നാലിനി കഴിഞ്ഞ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തെ കുട്ടികളെ പുതിയ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രമോഷന്‍/ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ നടത്താം? അതിനായി Class And Divisions ലെ Classes എടുക്കുക. പേജിന്റെ വലതു വശത്തുള്ള Student Transfers (ചുവന്ന വളയത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു) ല്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്യുക. ഈ സമയം ചുവടെ നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ ഒരു ജാലകം പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടും.
ഇവിടെ Reason എന്നതില്‍ EHS, NHS, Class Transfer എന്ന മൂന്ന് ഓപ്ഷനുകള്‍ കാണാം. EHS പ്രമോഷന് അര്‍ഹതയുള്ള കുട്ടികളും NHS പ്രമോഷന് അര്‍ഹത നേടാത്ത കുട്ടികളും ആണ്. ഒരു കുട്ടിയെ ഒരു ഡിവിഷനില്‍ നിന്ന് മറ്റൊരു ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ ചെയ്യേണ്ടി വരുമ്പോള്‍ Class Transfer എന്ന ഓപ്ഷന്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാം.

Select a Class ല്‍ നിന്നും 8 -ം ക്ലാസ് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക. Select a Division ല്‍ നിന്നും A 2011-2012 തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക. ആ ക്ലാസിലെ മുഴുവന്‍ കുട്ടികളേയും താഴെ ലിസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യും.
ചിത്രത്തില്‍ ഓരോ കുട്ടിയുടേയും പേരിന്റെ നേര്‍ക്ക് ടിക് മാര്‍ക് ചെയ്യാന്‍ സൗകര്യമുള്ളത് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക. ടിക് മാര്‍ക്ക് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന കുട്ടികളെ മാത്രമേ പ്രമോഷന്‍/ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫറിനു പരിഗണിക്കൂ. ചുവടെ Select Destination Class : 9 ഉം Select Destination Division : A 2012-2013 എന്നും നല്‍കിയിരിക്കുന്നത് കാണുക. ഇതിനര്‍ത്ഥം മുകളിലെ 8 A 2011-2012 ലെ കുട്ടികളെ 9 A 2012-2013 ലെ ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് പ്രമോഷന്‍/ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ ചെയ്യുകയാണെന്നാണ്. Submit അമര്‍ത്തിയാല്‍ ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ ഫലപ്രദമായി നടത്താനാകും. NHS ആയ കുട്ടികളെ ഇതു പോലെ തന്നെ അതേ ക്ലാസിലെ തന്നെ ഏതു ഡിവിഷനിലേക്കും ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ ചെയ്യാം. ഇതു പോലെ തന്നെ 9- ം ക്ലാസിലെ കുട്ടികളെ 10-ം ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് പ്രമോട്ട് ചെയ്യാം.

എട്ടാം ക്ലാസിലെ കുട്ടികളുടെ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്താന്‍

ഈ അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷം എട്ടാം ക്ലാസിലെത്തുന്ന കുട്ടികളുടെ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ സമ്പൂര്‍ണയില്‍ എന്റര്‍ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടാകണമെന്നില്ലല്ലോ. എട്ടാം ക്ലാസിലെ ഡിവിഷനുകള്‍ മേല്‍ വിവരിച്ച പ്രകാരം 2012-2013 അധ്യയന വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ എട്ടാം ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് കുട്ടികളുടെ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്താം. അതിന് Dashboard-Admission-School Admission ല്‍ പ്രവേശിക്കുക. ആ പേജില്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വിവരങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കി Admit Student എന്ന ലിങ്കില്‍ ക്ലിക്ക് ചെയ്ത് ഓരോ കുട്ടിയെയായി ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്താം.

Jambore Matematika V

Panitia Jambore Matematika V
MGMP Matematika SMP Kota Administrasi Jakarta Timur, Jumat dan Sabtu, 18-19 Mei 2012 telah mengadakan Kegiatan Jambore Matematika ke-5 (Mathematic Super Champ V) di Bumi Perkemahan Jambore Jakarta. Kegiatan Jambore Matematika V ini diikuti oleh 76 Tim. 
Acara Pembukaan dimulai pukul 14.30. Dalam pembukaan ini, Ketua Pelaksana Drs. Purwanto menyampaikan selamat kepada Peserta Tim yang telah menang tahap 1 karena sudah mewakili sekolahnya.
Tidak lupa juga Drs. Purwanto, M.Pd mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Kepala-kepala Sekolah yang turut andil dalam Jambore Matematika ini, kepada Panitia yang telah berupaya semaksimal mungkin demi kelancaran kegiatan ini. Tidak lupa juga, beliau mengucapkan terima kasih kepada Bank DKI yang telah memberikan dukungan dengan kegiatan Jambore ini.
Jambore Matematika V dibuka oleh Sadono, S.Pd, M.Pd selaku Ketua MGMP Matematika SMP Kota Administrasi Jakarta Timur. Selesai pembukaan dilanjutkan dengan Game 1 (Puzle) , game 2 (Pisa) dan malamnya diadakan kegiatan Apresiasi seni. Di sini masing-masing peserta menunjukkan kebolehannya dalam hal seni. Acara berakhir hingga pukul 24.00.
Pagi harinya dilaksanakan kegiatan Olah raga senam pagi. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan game 3 (Problem Solving) dan game 4 (Mathematic Market).
Pukul 15.00 kegiatan jambore Matematika V ditutup oleh Bapak Wirawan, selaku Pengawas yang berlatar belakang Matematika. Sebelumnya Bapak Tri Puji memberikan sambutan atas nama MGMP Matematika SMP DKI Jakarta. Dalam sambutannya, beliau memberikan apresiasi yang baik khususnya kepada MGMP Matematika SMP Jakarta Timur yang senantiasa menghidupkan kegiatan MGMP. Acara penutupan diakhiri dengan Pengumuman Pemenang. Secara keseluruhan dari masing-masing Game, Berdasarkan Keputusan Tim Juri dari Mahasiswa Uhamka, maka  Juara Umum untuk Jambore Matematika V adalah SMP Negeri 258 Jakarta.
Maju terus MGMP Matematika... semoga matematika semakin indah....

Math Evolve

Math Evolve - a basic operations fluency game for iOS. Free Lite version to try out, full version $1.99.

Somehow Math Evolve came across my radar again this week; it's an iOS app for elementary math. I'm always willing to give those things a try. Tired, frustrated with other stuff, I tweet:

And didn't think any more about it.

The next day, Adam tweets back, very politely. Immediately I feel like a heel. If I was speaking to someone in person, I wouldn't express myself that way. So I want to apologize to Adam here.

I had high expectations because the app store page has the following:

In Math Evolve you are an alien organism, completing number sentences on a quest to grow and return to your people. At the beginning of a level you fill in the first blank, then the second blank after the operation, then finally the result. Later you pick the first blank and the computer provides the second. (I always get the first one of those wrong as I don't notice when the switch occurs.)  All the while you are dodging combatants and trying to shoot them out of the way. You control your position on the screen by moving your character with a touch. Finally the boss appears and asks you to compute particulars.

Another part of why I expected/hoped for more is that it is slick. Trying to develop ParabolaX (or rather, watch while Alejo and Kevin program ParabolaX) has given me an appreciation for the work that goes into slickness in iOS.  Is there a role for a practice app? I think so, but I don't value it anywhere nearly as highly as one that helps students learn. After all, if they need practice, typically there's room for greater understanding.

I'd love a practice game that gave more for students to notice. Like asking 7+3, 6+4, 5+5, ... or 4x5, 5x5, 6x5... or 5x6, 6x6, 6x7... Noticing and generalizing are things that I value more about math.

Given the context, the practice mode could have meaning of the operation.  Gathering or eliminating to add or subtract, repeated groups for multiplication... lots of possibilities. I do like how at first you're gathering all the equation elements, then the game fills in the second spot, then the boss poses a computation. The incorrect answers are not particularly problematic, and the boss doesn't seem to use missed problems to pose problems. Maybe at higher levels? Ways for added difficulty could be including choices that are not computable, such as choices between 3, 6 and 7 when you have 21÷___.  I did only play the Lite version, so possibly some of these things come later.

I love how open and interested Adam is in improving the game, the context and game mechanics are well developed and suitable, and the game is fun enough that students will be happy to play. And he is obviously a far better internet citizen than I am, but hopefully he's taught me to watch my oafish responses.

As I think about evaluating math games and apps
Objective: facts practice, four operations, including negative numbers.
Gameplay: fun enough. Think Galaga/shoot 'em up.
Aesthetic: great. Cute characters, good effects.
Pedagogy: beyond difficulty selection, no visible fact strategies or support for learning. Minimal math practices.

I'd love to hear what you think of the app, and what do you feel like would make for a good facts learning game.

About the bloggers…

First, a pledge:
We, the bloggers, hereby affirm that we have a particular interest in improving K-12 mathematics education and will do what little we can to advance that worthy cause in the confines of this blog.
Since it is impossible to expound on all that is right and wrong with Common Core in one fell swoop, we can only address issues piecemeal, at the risk of occasionally sounding incoherent, or even worse, looking like bloviating ignorami.  We know that we may contradict ourselves at times.  Writing a blog is difficult; kudos to you bloggers out there.

We should interpose that we are not salaried educators, we are not political ideologues, we have no personal vendettas, we are not self-absorbed egoists, we have no children in school, and we have no pecuniary interest in the future success or failure of various educational reform efforts.  We are disinterested parties, and we are not selling any product or service.  We own no stock in any education-related publicly traded company.  (Did we overlook anything?)

Because we are unbeholden and free of conflicts of interest, we are able to speak truth to power.

[It is remotely possible that someone will want to hire us in some capacity to spiel on their (more heavily trafficked) website, so some of the previous statements may have to be superseded.  In the unlikely event that happens, we'll be sure to let readers know.  We believe in full disclosure about any financial or other potential biases.]

    Why mathematics should be mandatory for History students.

    Since I woke up to the truth behind 9/11 thanks to Dylan Avery's Loose Change, I began to question EVERYTHING.

    Only a few years ago the math skills of elementary school teachers were tested in The Netherlands. They were so poor that the results made the national news headlines. The requirements changed since then. If you want to become an elementary school teacher in The Netherlands you have to pass an additional test in mathematics. Period. When I was in high school there were roughly two groups of students. Those that could do math, and those that couldn't. The first group could study everything they wanted and the second group could only continue their studies in areas where math wasn't required. A popular study in the second group was history. Think about that for a minute. A person with a Ph.D. in History likely has the math skills of a second year high school drop-out. Functions, Trigonometry, Elementary Calculus, Combinatorics and Elementary Linear Algebra are high school subjects they did not do. They can basically add and multiply, with a calculator. They ( the history Ph.Ds ) can't do simple questions like how much is 4 divided by a third, or how much is 27^2, without a calculator.

    An example. I learned in high school that there were 4,000,000 people killed in Auschwitz ( a concentration camp ) during the second world war. From 1945 to 1990 that was the official number. In 1989 historians however had to revise this number. They revised it down to 1.3 million, they sliced two thirds off the original estimate. It is very important to understand that people questioning this number prior to 1990 were considered 'conspiracy theorists' or 'Holocaust Denialists'. ( I also found out that from 1945 onwards to the early fifties it was said that there were more than 20 concentration camps with gas chambers. This number was brought down to three in the early fifties. )

    How is it possible that an official statistical figure can be revised from 4,000,000 back to one-third? This is a very complicated and sensitive (!) issue I can't completely answer but that the math skills of historians are an issue I am certain. I would like to plead for adding mathematics to the requirements for studying history.

    Another example. Even today there is a group of historians who are still questioning the official figures of the Holocaust. ( They are of course execrated because they are questioning the official party line. ) Now look at a video where a historian completely breaks down a fact in the official literature using elementary mathematics. In my opinion these kinds of grave errors in the scientific literature are possible because few scientists in the history community can do their maths. But as we have seen historians can 'revise' their figures. ( In any other science this would be a grave embarrassment of course. )

    Common Core: a national cop-out, not a national curriculum

    A cautionary tale...

    In the 1980’s, the combination of banking deregulation and lack of oversight allowed a breed of banks known as Savings & Loans to embark on a scheme of making risky loans using depositor funds.  If the loans worked out, the S&L’s stood to profit, but if the loans failed, the deposits were insured by a federal insurance company (the FSLIC).  For the S&L’s, it was a ``heads I win, tails you (the insurance company) lose'' situation.

    But it was even worse than that.

    When enough loans went bad (of course they did, otherwise it wouldn't be a story), the FSLIC was depleted and went bankrupt, taxpayers footed the $100 billion bill, and (although we are not presenting the entire history lesson) these events contributed to an economic meltdown that is commonly known as the ``S&L crisis''.

    What can we learn from history?  For us, it is when someone hands you a ``heads I win, tails you lose'' proposition, be very, very careful before signing on the dotted line.

    Mathematic Super Champ V

    MGMP Matematika SMP Kota Administrasi Jakarta Timur, Jumat dan Sabtu tanggal 18-19 Mei 2012 akan melaksanakan Kegiatan Jambore Matematika V (Mathematic Super Champ) yang akan dilaksanakan di Bumi Perkemahan Jambore, Cibubur, Jakarta Timur.
    Dengan lokasi : KEMPI IV 
    Dalam Jambore Matematika ke 5 ini akan diikuti oleh 72 Tim yang terdiri dari 28 Tim Putra dan 44 Tim Putri. Untuk kegiatan ini ada juga Tim yang berasal dari Kota Administrasi Jakarta Utara 4 Tim dan 2 Tim dari Kota Administrasi Jakarta Selatan. Secara keseluruhan, peserta Jambore Matematika V diikuti oleh 48 sekolah, yang masing-masing Tim terdiri dari 8 peserta.
    Sebagai gambaran, Jambore Matematika V ini akan diadakan sebanyak 4 game. yaitu :
    1. Game 1 (Puzzle)
    2. Game 2 (Pisa)
    3. Game 3 (Problem Solving)
    4. Game 4 (Mathematic Market)
    Selain game tersebut, juga akan diadakan penilaian untuk Keindahan dan Kerapihan tenda. Untuk itu dimohon untuk tiap-tiap Tim mempercantik tendanya masing-masing.
    Kemudian sebagai persiapan, dimohon agar masing-masing Tim mempersiapkan :

    ഇന്ന് ലോക മാതൃദിനം

    പല രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും മെയ് മാസത്തിലെ രണ്ടാം ഞായറാഴ്ച, അതായത് മെയ് 13 ന് മാതൃദിനം (Mothers' Day) ആഘോഷിക്കുകയാണ്. ഇന്ന് വിപണിയില്‍ ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന പല ദിനങ്ങളും കച്ചവട മനസ്ഥിതിയോടെ തന്നെയാണ് കലണ്ടര്‍ താളുകളില്‍ സ്ഥാനം പിടിച്ചതെങ്കിലും മാതൃദിനം അക്കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ വേറിട്ടു നില്‍ക്കുന്നു. വര്‍ഷത്തില്‍ മുന്നൂറ്ററുപത്തെഞ്ചേകാല്‍ ദിവസവും വിസ്മരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടാന്‍ പാടില്ലാത്ത നാമമാണ് മാതാപിതാക്കളുടേത്. പക്ഷെ ജീവിതത്തിരക്കുകളാലും സ്വാര്‍ത്ഥതകളാലും മനുഷ്യന്‍ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ മറന്നു പോകുന്നതും അവരെത്തന്നെയാണ്. നാടെങ്ങും ഉയര്‍ന്നു വരുന്ന വൃദ്ധസദനങ്ങള്‍ ബോധപൂര്‍വം വിസ്മരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ആ സത്യത്തെ ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. അതെ, ആഘോഷപൂര്‍വം തന്നെ ആ ദിനം കൊണ്ടാടണം. ഓരോ വാക്കുകളും അമ്മയ്ക്കും അച്ഛനുമുള്ള സമ്മാനങ്ങളാകണമെങ്കിലും ഒരു സ്നേഹസമ്മാനം അവര്‍ക്ക് കൈമാറാനാകുമെങ്കില്‍! ആ സമയത്തുള്ള ആ ചിരി നമുക്കൊന്നു കാണാനാകുമെങ്കില്‍, നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതം ധന്യമായി. 'മനുഷ്യാ, നീ മൂലം നിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ കണ്ണനിറയുമ്പോള്‍ നിന്റെ നാശത്തിലേക്കുള്ള ആദ്യ പടി നീ ചവിട്ടുന്നുവെന്നോര്‍മ്മിക്കുക'യെന്ന കവിതാ ശകലം ഈ വേളയില്‍ അര്‍ത്ഥവത്താണ്. അധ്യാപകര്‍ക്കു മുന്നില്‍ നിഷ്ക്കളങ്കമായ കണ്ണുകളോടെ, നിഷ്ക്കളങ്കമായ മനസ്സോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്ന കുട്ടികളോട് രക്ഷിതാക്കളുടെ സ്നേഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് വിശദീകരിക്കാനാകുമെങ്കില്‍, സമൂഹത്തിനു ദ്രോഹമുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന പ്രവര്‍ത്തികളിലേക്ക് പോകാത്ത വിധം അവരെ നേര്‍വഴിക്ക് നയിക്കാനാകും. റാംബോയേയും മറ്റു സിനിമകളില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്ന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളേയുമെല്ലാം അനുകരിച്ച് വാളെടുക്കുന്ന ബുദ്ധിശൂന്യതയില്‍ നിന്നും അവരെ നമുക്ക് പിന്തിരിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയും. അമ്മമാരെ ആദരിക്കുന്നതിനായി കുറേനാളുകള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് നടന്ന ഒരു ചടങ്ങില്‍ മാതൃസ്നേഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അബ്ദുള്‍ സമദ് സമദാനി പ്രൗഢഗംഭീരമായൊരു പ്രസംഗം നടത്തുകയുണ്ടായി. അയത്നലളിതവും ചിന്തോദ്ദീപകവുമായ ആ പ്രസംഗം ചടങ്ങില്‍ സന്നിഹിതനായിരുന്ന മോഹന്‍ലാന്‍ അടക്കമുള്ള പലരുടേയും കണ്ണുകളെ ഈറനണിയിച്ചു. ഇരുപതു മിനിറ്റ് നീണ്ട മനോഹരമായ പ്രസംഗം. അമ്മ. ലോകമാതൃദിനത്തില്‍ ആ വീഡിയോ വായനക്കാരുടെ ശ്രദ്ധയില്‍പ്പെടുത്തട്ടെ.
